Our Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are at the heart of providing compassionate, hands-on support to each child we serve. Working directly with clients, RBTs play a key role in implementing ABA therapy plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to help children build new skills, manage behaviors, and make meaningful progress.
What an RBT Does in ABA Therapy
1. Direct Support and Skill Building
RBTs work one-on-one with each child, guiding them through activities to teach communication, social skills, and daily living tasks. They use techniques like prompting and positive reinforcement to help children learn and succeed in a structured, supportive environment.
2. Data Collection and Progress Tracking
RBTs collect data during each session, noting the child’s responses, achievements, and any areas that need extra focus. This data is essential for tracking progress, allowing BCBAs to adjust treatment plans as needed to support continuous improvement.
3. Behavior Management
In addition to teaching new skills, RBTs are trained to handle challenging behaviors, providing positive behavior support that helps children learn to manage and reduce behaviors that may interfere with learning and daily life.
4. Family Collaboration
RBTs often communicate with families, sharing insights about each session and supporting consistency between therapy and home. This collaboration helps reinforce positive behaviors and ensures continuity in the child’s learning.
5. Ongoing Training and Development
At Bright Steps ABA, we support our RBTs with continuous training to ensure they are equipped with the best techniques and practices. This commitment helps our team provide the highest quality of care to every family.
RBTs are dedicated, trained professionals who bring patience, skill, and care to each session. Their work not only supports each child’s development but also strengthens the bond between families and the Bright Steps ABA team.
